  • Provide, operate, and personalise the Service;
  • Save and sync your learning progress across your devices, and issue certificates;
  • Process subscriptions and prevent fraud;
  • Respond to your requests and provide support;
  • Send service-related messages and, where you have consented, optional updates;
  • Analyse usage to maintain and improve the Service;
  • Keep the Service secure and enforce our Terms; and
  • Comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases (EEA/UK users)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the Service), our legitimate interests (to secure and improve the Service), your consent (for certain analytics or marketing, where required), and compliance with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers acting on our behalf: authentication (Clerk), payments (Stripe), video hosting and streaming (Mux, Wistia), hosting and database (Vercel, Neon), and analytics and email delivery.
  • App stores and sign-in providers: Apple and Google, when you install the app through their stores or sign in with their accounts, subject to their own privacy policies.
  • Legal and safety: where necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as subtitle and playback settings), and understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some may affect functionality.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After your account is closed, we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable period, unless a longer period is required for legal, tax, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR in the EEA/UK, PIPEDA in Canada, or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to restrict or object to certain processing or withdraw consent. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. To exercise any right, email support@basiraeducation.org; we may need to verify your identity first.

Deleting your account and data

You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time from within the app (in Settings) or by emailing support@basiraeducation.org. We will delete or anonymise your data as described under “Data retention”.

Children’s privacy

The Service is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it. Where local law sets a higher minimum age for digital consent, that age applies.

Security

We use generally accepted technical and organisational safeguards — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International data transfers

We operate from Canada and use service providers that may process data in Canada, the United States, and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such cross-border transfers.

Mobile app permissions

Our mobile apps may ask for permission to send notifications (such as lesson reminders), to store files on your device (for offline downloads of lessons you choose), and to access the network. You can manage these permissions in your device settings.

Third-party links and content

The Service may link to or embed third-party content. Those third parties’ privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this one.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post any material changes here with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Policy.
